    Duties Summary

    This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

    About the Position: This position is located within the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA. The incumbent will provide individual therapy and diagnostic assessments for children, adolescents and adults ages 5-65 on an as assigned basis.


    Responsibilities
    • Utilize evidence based practices to provide outpatient individual and group therapy for adults in a multidisciplinary Traumatic Brain Injury clinic.
    • Complete intakes, develop treatment plans, and make appropriate referrals for patients.
    • Utilize electronic health record systems to document and review patient data.
    • Work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in close collaboration with hospital and community providers.
    • Support the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH) Emergency Department in response to behavioral health crisis for patients of all ages.

    • This position has been designated ?Mission Essential?. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
    • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education, license, and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Basic Requirement for Social Worker:

    Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

    License: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted independent social work clinical licensure from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

    Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes treating behavioral health patients with bio-pyscho-social conditions within a clinic setting; conducting individual and/or group therapy for patients in need of Social Work services; and coordinating care/referrals for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
